While I had one baby at my side and other children with me in the cradle was working 12 hour shifts grinding floors and cutting off wallpaper. Ha! All was starting to come together but there was still a long way to go. The project would require lots of time and money and shopping my favorite interiors to decorate this place. In order to stay in my budget I took my sons along with me as I searched for gems hidden in estate sales. Each week we would spend between Thursday and Saturday in garage sales and estate sales buying brand new furniture. Then I painted and sanded in the driveway throughout the week. The look was similar to this... This was the time my love of restoring furniture began. The issue was not whether our house had already been furnished. I had a stand in the market at my local location and sold pieces there. I was able to outgrow my space because I owned numerous pieces I needed. There were open houses in my home that saw more than 1 000 visitors could visit in the span of a weekend. They could buy anything they saw on the first floor. That's how my company Growing Days was born. As my business flourished, so did our little family. In some ways, I had found the perfect way to balance being a mom as well as starting my own venture. Growing Days fit perfectly. In 2013, my daughter Nora was our fourth baby. I was thrilled with where my company was taking me, but I felt like I needed some time off. I took a break from creating furniture for vintage homes, and also slowed my pace to be at home to take care of the kids. It was just what I needed. In the course of a few months, the phone began to begin to. I was getting calls from people asking for help with the interior decoration and improvements. The majority of them were people who visited my home at my open house for furniture. It didn't seem long until I managed a large-scale house renovation business. It began with taking clients on one in a manner that I could be comfortable with. If you had told me that this business that I started would become the basis of a television show that airs on the DIY Network I probably would have been astonished. Actually I still kind of laugh when I think about the idea.
